Freelance Writing:
Freedom to work on things you really care about

Freelance writing, to me, means freedom. It gives you the freedom to select the work you do. That's important. The more passionate you are about your work, the more effective it will be. That in turn means more success for you. And all the while you are doing something you truly love.

Having said all of that, it is a wonder more people are not freelance writers. Who in their right mind would turn down the chance to have a career they love because it allows them to do what is most important to them?

If it moves you, you have the power to move others
I have always found writing to be the most empowering thing in life. Whenever something has moved me -- whether to happiness or sadness, or somewhere in between -- my first instinct has been to reach for a trusty pen or pencil. When you speak, words became tainted by so much -- they way it's heard, the noise around you, the tone of your voice, the attention of the other person. But on paper, words have undeniable power. What you write can change the course of human events, whether your words prevent the purchase of an unsafe product by way of a safety brochure or call for political reform from the editorial pages of a newspaper.
